So integral is Rooney to England's ambitions that Hodgson has already confirmed the striker's selection despite him being banned for the first two games against France and Sweden. After some underwhelming performances in previous major tournaments, Rooney will be hoping to steal the spotlight for the right reasons when he returns from suspension.

Grant Holt Only one englishman has only scored more premier league goals than holt which is rooney we love u GRANT HOLT

I would put Holt in the squad and use him as a super sub. If England needed a goal in the last 20 minutes, few strikers are more likely to pressure the defence and force the goal. Grant Holt may not play pretty, but he gets results.
