Irish referee David McHugh was officiating a Tri-Nations match between New Zealand and South Africa when a drunken fan, Pieter van Zyl, ran onto the field and tackled the referee. McHugh had to be stretchered off the field with a broken shoulder when All Blacks flanker punched said fan in the face before wrestling him to the ground.
