May: The month's two big tournaments took place either side of the Atlantic. The first, The Players Championship, was won by Matt Kuchar, who held off American trio Ben Curtis, Rickie Fowler and Zach Johnson as well as Scotland's Martin Laird. Luke Donald was back in sixth but made amends a fortnight later by defending his BMW PGA Championship title by four strokes. It helped Donald regain the world No.1 spot.
