Pastor Maldonado made it five winners from five races as the Venezuelan secured a remarkable pole-to-flag victory. It handed Williams their first win since Juan Pablo Montoya eight years ago in Brazil after the team outsmarted Ferrari in ther pits. Maldonado described it as "a wonderful day for the team which has been pushing so hard." The mood soured somewhat following a fire in the team's garage as they celebrated the success but thankfully no one was seriously hurt.
