Mark Webber was at his absolute peak around the streets of the principality and never looked in danger of conceding the lead. He started on pole after fastest qualifier Michael Schumacher was demoted to sixth for causing a crash in Barcelona. The result moved Alonso, in third, into the championship lead while Rosberg picked up valuable points for finishing second. Webber's victory makes this the season in history to feature six different winners in the first six races.
