Ice skater Johnny Weir's excuse after failing to win a medal at the 2006 Winter Olympics is certainly unique. He had missed his bus en route to the stadium. His tardiness was because, to quote Weir himself, "I didn't feel my inner peace. I didn't feel my aura. I was black inside."
