Former heating engineer Steve Whiteley hit the headlines in March 2011 with a simple £2 bet. He only usually attended the races once or twice a year, but landed a six-race rollover jackpot when a horse called Lupita, ridden by Jessica Lodge, won at 12-1. It won Whiteley a whopping £1.45 million after which he understatedly said: "I couldn't watch the last race. I'm shaking like a leaf. I can't believe it." It's the largest win in the history of the Tote Jackpot.
